A father-and-son operation, since 2019.

GolfX is a father-and-son operation. Austin McCreary started swinging clubs with his dad, Michael, when he was about ten. He never really stopped — competitive golf through high school, four years between Dean College and Assumption, then a stint coaching the team at Dean after he graduated. He finished his business degree at Boston College and earned his PGA Associate certification along the way.

In 2019, Austin and Michael bought the original GolfX together. At the time it was mostly a used-club shop with a few simulator bays that worked when they felt like it. We saw what it could be. Year by year, we rebuilt it: every bay upgraded to current tracking technology, a Premium Suite added for groups who wanted something nicer, a members' section for the regulars, and a real club repair and re-gripping bench. Instruction grew alongside all of it.

Michael recently retired from a long career as a Chief Information Officer. He's now spending more time alongside Austin to help grow the business — focused on strengthening operations and thoughtfully integrating more technology into what we already offer.

We're in this business because we like golfers. That's most of it, honestly. We wanted a place where you're not really a customer — you're somebody we know, hitting balls next to other people we know, in a room that doesn't take itself too seriously. Walk in for a lesson, a regrip, a couple of hours with friends, or just to watch someone else's swing fall apart on TPC Sawgrass.
